There released many singles but out of them all I believe these three were probably the best, they were Lyin Eyes, New Kid In Town and Hotel California. The band was originally formed with the members I mentioned above but since then there are new members who have joined the band such as Joe Walsh, Don Felder and Timothy B Schmit. They still make lovely music but nothing can be as good as the first ever band.
There were other singles from the Eagles which became famous. Songs such as deperado and one of these nights also made big names but not as big as the above three.
Like all the other rocks bands they had to deal with drinks and drugs too. The night of my first concert I still remember that violence the fans showed towards the band, after the band said something horrible the fans were throwing beer glasses & bottle openers at the band’s van. Luckily no one was hurt and all the angry fans were cleared away. To be honest with you I feel that they were trouble makers and not real fans.
The band is still doing the tours and making beautiful music. Their tour continues in 2010 when they go to Australia and also some places in North America. So relive those old memories again and go and see the Eagles near you.

Those versed in reading music will see that the range of radio jingles from the 1960s and 1970s is quite wide, with the soprano usually ending up on C above middle C and the bass singer usually as low as the F at the bottom of the bass clef. That’s a spread of two-and-a-half octaves.
Jingle lyrics often were designed with a “thinner” first portion, in which the slogan frequently was sung, followed by the big, full-spread chords for the radio station call letters. This remains true in many cases.
The “all-male” sound was clustered more tightly and often didn’t have a real bass line. In these cases, the root of the chord or bass notes were taken by the bass guitar or sometimes a bass trombone or baritone sax. In packages such as PAMS Series 31, the lead male often would be found on a C above middle C, in the falsetto range, which really gave the vocals a sharp edge.
Occasionally the extreme ranges of the human voice were explored in jingles. Many is the time I’ve heard Jim Clancy sing C below the bass clef. I have heard Gleni Rutherford sing an octave above the top of the treble clef, which is up in the range that dogs can hear. These unusual voicings were designed to create effects that would cut through the clutter on the radio and make the jingles stand out.
In some cases, less is more. PAMS Series 27 featured three males singing the same note in the same octave — unison — which allowed the instruments a little more room to operate around them.
Another trick most of the studios used, and still use today, is “stacking.” With this technique, depth is added to the sound by having the vocal group sing its parts and then sing them again on another track. (It also helps correct for any minor pitch problems on either track.)
These separate tracks can be mixed to mono or panned slightly in stereo in the final mix. This was done as early as 1960, when PAMS hyped the process as “dual channel sound on sound, multiple recording.”
Contemporary vocals are handled a bit differently. It’s very common for all five voices to sing the melody line in high unison. That is stacked, and then subsequent tracks have multiple layers of harmony added to them. In instances like these, harmony notes can be sung both below the melody and above it.
Rarely is there a true bass part in most contemporary hit radio or even adult contemporary jingle packages anymore. Often, female vocals are delivered with a lot more bite while very high male solo performances are reserved for delivering power.
You knew that older jingles sounded different. Now at least some of the reasons have been revealed.
]]>This is the sixth installment of my series of tutorials on the processing of drum tracks. Today’s focus is on equalization of hi-hats, overheads, toms and rooms.
First lets talk overheads. Now, where do I begin? Applying EQ to an overhead track depends on the artistic approach for your song and their respective drum tracks (which is true for anything, but stay with me here). If you’re primarily using the overheads as cymbal mics, then you’ll want to roll out most of the bottom end by using a Hi Pass Filter. Simply jettison everything below 500Hz or so and sneak the track up in level so that the cymbals sit in a proper place (with the drum tracks and the song in general) when struck. You may want to try boosting above 10kHz for some “air” as well.
If you’re looking for the overheads to convey location of the individual elements of a kit, as well as to capture the kit overall, then a fairly broad cut centered around 400Hz-500Hz is all that’s needed to pull some honk out of the kit to make room for the rest of the drum tracks and other instruments. Again, some lifting above 10kHz is nice to bring out some sparkle and presence and you may want to dip down towards 7kHz for more snap out of your snare drum track.
Now lets talk toms. “System of a Down”-type toms? Kill the bloom and resonance (below 250Hz) and boost the stick hit and attack (1kHz – 4kHz) of the tom tracks. Doing a Modern R and B thing? Bring up the resonance of the shell and let it ring. Find the resonant frequency and boost until they’re howling. Now fit that in with the Overheads and listen to what happens with the drum tracks in relation to the song. What seemed like overkill when soloed now feels right while the rest of the track is playing doesn’t it? Good. That’s what it’s all about anyway! Always take this into consideration in terms of your drum tracks.
Next lets discuss hi-hats. Dump everything below 500Hz unless you want the sound of the studio drummer’s foot thumping. Adding some air above 10kHz can work as well. Be careful not to overdo it or you could end up with excessively sizzly-sounding hats. That sounds atrocious, and can ruin your drum tracks (and therefore your song).
Lastly, lets talk about rooms. Just mangle the snot out of these. Or, don’t. Filter ‘em. Effect ‘em. Or don’t. Make ‘em dull. Or, don’t. Make them bright. Or don’t. Can you see where I’m going with this? Good. Your ears should tell you what is best for your drum tracks.
So there you have it: a basic set of concepts to get you up and rolling towards amazing sounding drum tracks. And as if I haven’t said this enough by now in my articles… EXPERIMENT and have fun! Find your voice and signature sound as you mix your drum tracks. Copying someone else’s sound is cool for about a minute… but ultimately what will set your project apart from the pack is what you discover on your own. Indeed, the drum sounds you create in a mix will dictate the power and presence of your recording. What sets a master apart from a demo? Drum sounds of course! Good luck processing your drum tracks, and have fun.
